iPhone 3.1.3 undoes jailbreaking, unlocking efforts

Original iPhone, iPod touch unaffected
The new iPhone 3.1.3 firmware wrecks any previous unlocking or jailbreaking efforts, warns the unofficial iPhone Dev Team. Both the PwnageTool and redsn0w tools are noted to be incompatible with v3.1.3, with the exception of the latter when jailbreaking a first-generation iPhone or Touch. In those cases, users can point the software to an existing v3.1.2 IPSW.
The Dev Team otherwise cautions people to avoid installing the v3.1.3 firmware on jailbroken and/or unlocked devices until redsn0w and PwnageTool are updated with workarounds. redsn0w will jailbreak an iPhone 3G, but prevent unlocking. The second-generation Touch should be hackable after the Dev Team makes a slight modification to redsn0w.

If the 'nerds' jailbreak the phone? There's legitimate reasons to jailbreak. I personally use it so I can USE my 1st gen iPhone as an iPod since I don't have service on the phone. According to Apple, unless i do that, I might as well throw it away. Since I paid full price for it, I'm certainly going to keep using it!!

I have no issue with people jailbreaking, unlocking, moding, etc. In fact I applaud the people who have the nerve to do it. That said, what does bother me immensely are the individuals who decide to go this route and still expect apple to support them through warranty / technical support.
The phone is specifically on AT&T at the moment and I know there are plenty of people out there who hold some grudge against AT&T and claim they have the worst coverage, etc., etc., etc. If you don't have the know how to support your efforts if something goes wrong, and you don't want to use AT&T's network for whatever reason, then you don't need the iPhone. Buy an iPod touch and be happy.
There is no reason why Apple should have to help you in anyway if you purchased their product and used a third part hack to make it work the way it was not intended to. You don't have to have the iPhone!
I for one am one of those uppity Apple users, who remembers the days of old with Apple and what it meant to be a fan of Apple. I still use my lime green 466 MHz G3 clamshell. I had an iPhone and I thought i think it's an amazing product, but when I walk around and see 13 year olds and cocky prick business men who don't even know nothing about the phone or Apple and just have it because it's expensive and everyone else has one.... well that kills it for me and makes me want the iPhone or any other product, less or not at all. There products have gone WAY to mainstream, which is fine and I'm glad to see the company doing well. It was bound to happen eventually.
This has become a bit of a tangent, back to the subject at hand. Jailbreak you phone if you wish, do so at your own risk and don't wine if it becomes a stylish paperweight. Remember, you did it to yourself.

Multitasking > bug fixes. This is why I'll not be getting an iPad until Apple makes jailbreaking unnecessary.
