Logitech delays SqueezeBox Touch by 2 more months
The release of the promised Logitech SqueezeBox Touch has again been delayed, according to a Thursday post by a Slim Devices developer on the official Logitech forum board. The last delay promised the touch media server would arrive this month, and Logitech is still keeping mum about why the device has been delayed. Forum members speculate Logitech ran into major software or hardware problems.
"We’re looking at a couple of months until release," reads the post, which makes the total delay at least four months since the originally promised December release. Pre-orders began in October.
Understandably, those who placed orders for the Squeezebox Touch as far back as six months ago are somewhat upset, as Logitech has not updated its awaiting customers with any sort of explanation for the delay. Another, senior member on the forum says the company has problems integrating their latest streaming software into the relatively low-power hardware in the SqueezeBox Touch.
The device is the first media streaming hub from Logitech to sport a touchscreen interface. The 4.3-inch screen can also display photos while the hub can access a local network and stream Internet radio, including Last.fm and RealNetworks' Rhapsody. It is priced at $300.
