Apple making own tweaks to app icons?
Apple has updated the iTunes Connect Developer Guide (PDF), used in preparing submissions to the App Store. The document is now at v5.3, and counts among its changes a better explanation of creating demo accounts, and information on the "New Territories as Added" checkbox. More information has been supplied on export compliance, and the recommended description length for product pages has been changed based on the new App Store page layout.
Separately, one report suggests that Apple may be deciding of its own accord whether or not to add or remove shine from submitted icons. To ensure a homogeneous look on the iPhone homescreen, Apple itself takes icons and rounds them, also frequently applying a gloss effect. The company may however be deciding to strip shine if it feels an icon would look better with a matte-like appearance.
