App sells at $3, grosses over $1 Mil in nine days

PopCap's Plants vs. Zombies has set a record for a new iPhone app launch in its first nine days of availability. The new game has sold over 300,000 units in less than ten days on the App Store, topping the units and revenue charts within 24 hours of its launch. In less than ten days, the game has already grossed over $1 million.

The new app is a port of Plants vs. Zombies for Mac and pits the user against an invasion of zombies, with numerous plants used as a defense. The iPhone adaptation features 49 zombie-killing plants, 26 different zombie types and 50 levels, with various attacks in environments such as day, night, fog, rooftops and swimming pools.

The app requires iPhone OS 2.2.1 and is 3.0 tested. It retails on the iTunes App Store for $3.
