Johnny Cash tune marks milestone

Although having already announced 10 billion iTunes song downloads as of Wednesday, Apple has only now revealed the winner of the connected contest. The claimant is Louie Sulcer of Woodstock, Georgia, who won by buying the Johnny Cash song "Guess Things Happen That Way." For pushing iTunes to the 10 billionth download, Sulcer will be getting a $10,000 iTunes gift card.

It wasn't a polka

Sorry, Ken, maybe for 20 billion. Still, at least it was Johnny Cash and not Justin Bieber.

What if...

I can't help think the song was rounded to the closest one of taste. Most every music listener has heard of Mr. Cash, but what if it was something completely different: a track simply titled Intro, a hidden track, something from a self produced artist, a (re)mix track, a multi-tune track, political, controversial, explicit, polka... What were the odds?

Milestone tracks are always something hugely popular, or in this case, something highly coincidental. Would Apple publish the name of the track if it were "s*** B*tch"?

On another topic altogether, I'd be interested in hearing about how Mr. Sulcer's taxes are handled on this. I hope this is something the media covers.
