Magellan posts new RoadMate app for US, Puerto Rico

Cheaper than North American version

GPS maker Magellan has released an alternate version of its RoadMate app for the iPhone and iPod touch, RoadMate 2010 USA. Whereas the main version covers most of North America, the new one narrows focus to just the United States and Puerto Rico. Omitting Canada cuts pricing from $60 down to $40.

As with most GPS apps, RoadMate incorporates spoken directions and contact integration. It also includes a pedestrian mode, in-app music playback, and lane guidance during highway driving. All iPhones are supported, along with second- or third-generation iPod touches; any device without its own GPS receiver must, though, be connected to a Magellan Premium Car Kit.
