New version opens, edits files, syncs via email

SugarSync has announced the availability of its second version of SugarSync for iPad with new edit and sync capabilities. The app syncs files between the iPad and the SugarSync cloud, which supports files and folders from any combination of Macs and PCs. It allows always-available access to documents, photos and music, along with music streaming.

Version 1.7 for iPad allows users to open and edit documents -- with Pages, Numbers or Keynote for iPad required depending on the document type -- and photos then re-sync the saved data to the SugarSync cloud. The app uses Upload by Email to sync iPad-edited documents and images to the cloud.

The new version requires iPhone OS 3.0 and works with both iPad and iPhone/iPod touch, though the new syncing features are iPad specific. The app is free, with cloud services starting a $5 per month for 30GB of storage and ranging up to $40 per month for 500GB of storage.
