MacNN reviews Bento for iPad - four stars to database app

App ships with three themes, 25 templates

MacNN has reviewed Bento for iPad, giving four stars (out of five) to the personal database app. The general-purpose database app allows users to customize the organization structure and data - it ships with 25 templates designed for common databases such as Home Inventory, Expenses, To Do Items, Recipes, Exercise Log, and Time Billing. The templates can each be modified, while the app has three visual themes to choose from.

The reviewer was impressed with Bento for iPad's ease of use and integration with the Contacts app - the software populates database fields automatically for ease in database creation. Another pro was the flexibility of data types that can be used, but the lack of flexibility in form layouts was a limiting factor. Syncing data has significant limitations, as it can only be done via Wi-Fi with the iPad and Mac on the same network -- Wi-Fi hotspots with a Mac at home are not workable, nor is syncing via 3G for the next round of iPads coming this week.

Bento for iPad costs $5 on the iTunes App Store.
