Will include iPad, iPhone 4.0 sessions

Apple has formally announced a schedule for the 2010 Worldwide Developers Conference. The event will be held June 7th through the 11th at Moscone West in San Francisco, and sport a distinct emphasis on iPhone and iPad apps. Developers will be able to attend the first sessions for the iPad, and labs for iPhone 4.0. As usual, a large section of the conference will still be devoted to Mac OS X.

Material is being separated into five tracks: Application Frameworks, Internet & Web, Graphics & Media, Developer Tools and Core OS. The first, for instance, will include sessions iAd and changes in iPhone 4.0, while Graphics & Media will address issues such as OpenGL programming and Game Center. Of note in the Internet & Web section is a focus on HTML5, reflecting the lack of Flash support on Apple handhelds.

Apple Design Awards will be handed out for five iPad and five iPhone apps. Nominations are now ongoing, and will be accepted until May 14th at 5PM Pacific time.

Electronic tickets for WWDC cost $1,599 apiece, and are available only to registered Apple developers.

    No Mac awards

Seems a strange omission from WWDC. Apple really does seem to be ignoring the Mac these days.
