Sonos update goes live with S5 stereo pairing, crossfading

Sonos S5 3.2 ready to go
As promised, Sonos this evening posted the 3.2 software. The update's highlight is a unique pairing that mates two ZonePlayer S5s to form the left and right stereo channels. Both stay in sync and provide much more powerful sound for large rooms or simply those who want the added impact.
Crossfading is equally new and gives all Sonos systems a smoother transition between tracks. It works with both locally stored music, such as in an iTunes collection, as well as Internet streaming radio services like Last.fm and Pandora. US listeners also get iheartradio streaming to cover a swath of local radio stations.
Other touches include an expansion to nine control languages both for computers and for handhelds like the iPhone and Sonos Controller 200. Multiple customized alarms are now an option and can vary not only by the day but by the source.
The update is free and needs only a connected Sonos receiver or speaker system in addition to a Mac or Windows PC.
