Devices offer DLNA streaming, Pro Logic IIz

Onkyo has introduced three new receivers, each featuring support for 3D video and iPhone/iPod connection. The TX-NR1008, TX-NR808, and TX-NR708 offer an Ethernet port for integration with home networks, enabling DLNA streaming and access to additional content such as Pandora.

The TX-NR808 and TX-NR708 feature 7.2-channel audio, with support for Dolby Pro Logic IIz, Audyssey DSX, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD. When using 9.2-channel formats, both receivers replace the surround rear channels with the extra height or width channels. The TX-NR1008 supports full 9.2-channel output, with a variety of options for speaker configuration.

Each of the receivers also supports multi-room audio distribution, with the TX-NR708 offering a powered Zone 2 and Zone 3 line out. The TX-NR808 provides a powered Zone 2, with pre-outs for Zone 2 and Zone 3. The TX-NR1008 supports simultaneous playback of 5.1-channel output in the main room, along with fully-powered stereo audio in each of the additional zones.

A front-side USB port allows users to connect an iPhone or iPod. Content such as album art is then displayed on-screen, while users can also navigate the menus using the included remote. Each of the receivers also provides an analog RGB input for displaying video content from a connected PC.

The TX-NR708 and TX-NR808 are each expected to ship beginning in July for respective prices of $900 and $1100, while the TX-NR1008 will be released at the end of July for $1400.
