Supports iOS 4, iBooks enhancements

Apple is very close to releasing the iTunes 9.2 update, say developers. A new seed is reportedly labeled a "Golden Master" copy, signifying that the software is essentially complete. The upgrade from beta is likely not coincidental, as Apple yesterday released a gold master of iOS 4 to developers.

Indeed the primary addition to iTunes 9.2 is said to be support for iOS 4 devices. App organization, for instance, requires compatibility with the folder system implemented in the new firmware, and the update should also make it possible to sync iBooks titles with iPhones and iPod touches. All versions of iBooks are expected to benefit from syncing and organizing PDF files.

Secondary changes are said to include quicker backups when syncing iPhones and Touches, and faster scrolling through media lists. There is no word on any planned bugfixes. iOS 4 is due on June 21st, and so iTunes 9.2 should be released sometime beforehand.
