Windows Live Messenger iPhone marks 2nd MS app

Microsoft today posted its second major iPhone app today in the form of Windows Live Messenger (free, App Store). The download gives the expected instant messaging on Windows Live but also integrates closely with other networks; it also talks to Yahoo Messenger contacts, pulls status updates from Facebook, Flickr and MySpace.

The app is considered a social hub of its own and allows photo uploads with commenting and sharing. Hotmail users can check their e-mail from the app with notifications of new messages. Messenger should work with all iOS devices, including those upgraded to iOS 4.

Microsoft's app is paradoxically its most advanced version of the app on any mobile platform, but the company has historically been platform agnostic; the Bing app on the iPhone was the best version when initially released, and its Tag Reader app is available for most major platforms, including Android.

    Wow!

I hope it's as good for iOS as it is on other platforms! Seriously, why do they even bother?

    Worst... ever

Worst, app... ever. I thought Messenger for Mac was bad! This had to have been designed by the online services team or something. For however much I may not be a fan of the Mac BU, this is just plain too awful to have been designed by them.

Trying to even figure out who's online to talk to is nearly impossible. I couldn't figure out how to set up Facebook or anything else, the whole app was a mess!
