Two new Sims games for the iPhone, iPod touch

EA Mobile has introduced its new Summer and Fall line of iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch games, consisting of up to eight different titles in development. Previously presented at EA’s Hot for Holiday Event in New York, the new line of games cover a wide variety of genres ranging from the Madden NFL 11 and NCAA Football sports games to the Risk strategy war-based game. Additional titles mentioned include Reckless Racing, SimCity Deluxe, The Sims 3 Ambitions, Yahtzee, and R-Type.

The latest installment in the Madden NFL series offers a new GameFlow feature with additional defensive control. It allows players to draw “Hot Routes Everywhere”, enabling them to decide the exact path each player should take before the run begins.

NCAA Football has been specifically designed for the iPhone 4 and its new Retina display. It allows players to choose from over 55 of the most popular colleges, and includes options for developing personalized teams. Other features include multi-player support, built-in commentary, and the rules and plays of the real NCAA Division.

The new racing game Reckless Racing pins players against eachother in an all-out racing battle on a variety of different maps. It offers a top-down style of racing gameplay, and allows players to skid, slip, and slide their way to the finish line. Included in the game are on-line leaderboads, multiplayer support, and the ability to trade ghost races with other users worldwide.

Two new Sims games are being developed for the iPhone and iPod touch, consisting of SimCity Deluxe and The Sims 3 Ambitions. SimCity Deluxe allows players to develop and manage their own city, and delivers improved visuals, starter cities, and new scenarios. The Sims 3 Ambitions is a new Sims game where players can turn their passions into professions, and alter the characteristics of their person. It can be used to turn the player’s character into a town hero, a trouble maker, or anything in between.

Yahtzee for the iPad is based off the original family game, where players shake dice within a cup in order to roll the highest score. Four different gameplay modes are included, allowing players to do everything from compete against in-game characters, to pass and play with up to four people. Both scores and challenges can also be posted using the Facebook Connect support.

Risk is another classic board game that requires almost no introduction, pinning players against each other in an attempt at world domination. Expected to be compatible with the iPhone and iPod touch, the game allows users to fight against realistic AI, or take on up to six multiplayer opponents.

The last iPhone and iPod touch game mentioned in this line-up is R-Type, a side-shooter game with an old 80’s video-arcade style. During the game users take control of a futuristic fighter, and defend against multiple waves of enemies. Features include up to eight different levels to play through, with a boss at the end of each level.

The new set of video games are also being displayed at the Studio Showcase Event at EA’s headquarters in Redwood Shores, CA, and are expected for release sometime between now and the end of Fall.
