iPod continues shrinking, Mac regains ground
New graph analysis of Apple's Q3 results shows that the iPad, launched only in April, is already the company's third-most important business. The company sold 3.27 million tablets in the quarter, generating approximately $2.2 billion in revenue. The number relegates the declining iPod to fourth place, with about $1.5 billion.
The Mac regained some prominence by achieving its best-ever quarter, bringing in $4.4 billion. It is still second to the iPhone, which now largely controls Apple's fate. iTunes, software and peripherals continue to be marginal sources of income, although the iTunes Store has been growing in small measure for several years.
