Changles include offline mode
Box.net will "soon" make some important updates to its iPad and iPhone apps, according to an announcement. Unlike most filesharing services, Box is oriented towards businesses. Users can collaborate on work projects, for instance by assigning tasks and posting comments. The service also places a strong emphasis on security through encryption and customizable permissions.
The updates though will allow for offline file access, giving people the ability to read documents outside of wireless range. Related to this is support for file caching, speeding up the preview process. People will also be able to sync a saved file with a collaborator's version -- a prompt should prevent accidental overwrites.
Changes unique to the iPhone app will include support for iOS 4 and fast app switching. On top of this, graphics are being improved for the iPhone 4's Retina Display. Once finished the upgraded apps will be available free from the App Store.
