Off-hand remark fuels iPod touch 4 talk

Rumors surrounding the next iPod touch were given fuel this evening by a seemingly off-the-cuff remark by John Gruber. In commenting on the high pricing for the Dell Streak, the tech writer stated as fact that the next iPod would have both the iPhone 4's 960x640 Retina Display and the by now confirmed front and backcameras. They would arrive in a "few weeks."

The statements aren't overt attempts at seeding a rumor, but Gruber is known to have accurate sources within Apple and is known to occasionally tease leaks by mentioning them off-hand. An iPod touch update is virtually certain as Apple regularly refreshes its iPod line at the end of summer and this year has its first major revision in store. Future firmware has given some of this away, as iOS 4.1 will usee-mail for FaceTime contacts to let non-phone devices like the iPod make video calls.
