Chosen apps mostly demo Apple hardware
Apple has introduced a new subsection to the App Store, dubbed Apps to Impress Your Friends. Many of the apps are well-known, such as RedLaser, Dragon Dictation, GTA: Chinatown Wars and Apple's own iMovie. In general they are iPhone or iPod touch titles, though a handful have extra iPad support.
The overriding theme involves taking advantage of Apple hardware and software. RedLaser, for instance, uses an iPhone's camera to scan products, while Dragon Dictation is an example of voice recognition. Chinatown Wars is a processor-heavy 3D title, and because of its requirements, iMovie can only run on an iPhone 4. The subsection is likely intended to encourage people to do their own promotion of Apple devices.
