Apple Store down ahead of Sept 1 event

Apple has already taken down the online Apple Store ahead of its music event beginning later today. The move is unusually early, as Apple often waits until closer to its presentations, and supports beliefs that the company has a slew of new devices in store. Some of these, such as a new Apple TV, may not be shipping when the store goes back online.

Most expectations today center around new iPods, including a new iPod nano with a very small touchscreen as well as a new iPod touch that should have a 960x640 Retina Display, a front camera for FaceTime, a rear 3.2-megapixel camera without flash and other very likely upgrades such as an A4 chip and 802.11n Wi-Fi. No mention has been made of iPod classic or iPod shuffle updates, though they won't necessarily disappear.
