iPads to finally support multitasking
Although iOS 4.1 is only set to launch next week, Apple also used today's press event to preview iOS 4.2. Critically the update will be the first version of iOS 4 to work on iPads, bringing along many advancements already on the iPhone and iPod touch, such as folders and multitasking. Universally the firmware will gain still more features, including wireless printing, which pops up a Print Center app in the Dock when a job is active. Multiple printers can be chosen from.
Apple will also be supporting AirPlay, an expanded version of AirTunes capable of streaming video as well audio. As an example, people will be able to push video from an iPad to the new Apple TV, even retaining position in the middle of a clip.
iOS 4.2 will launch sometime in November. The iPad, iPhone and iPod touch should all gain access to the update at the same time, but as with v4.0, not all models will be compatible. This likely excludes only first-generation iPhones and Touches.

Would have been a lot more useful if it weren't limited to local network.
