Altec Lansing intros Octiv Duo dock, Muzx earbuds
Altec Lansing on Wednesday introduced two new audio products meant for iPod and iPhone owners with the Octiv Duo dual docking and charging speaker system and Muzx Ultra in-ear headphones. The former can dock and charge two of the Apple devices and has a USB port for charging a third device. An auxiliary 3.5mm line-in also lets users play back audio from other devices.
The dock optionally works with a free Music Mix App that will shuffle songs from both of the docked devices alternatively or lets users set the percentage of songs played back from each. Another app, Alarm Rock, turns the dock into a full-featured alarm clock. A remote control is also bundled with the Octiv Duo. The dock will accommodate all iPhones and iPods and is certified to work with iPhone 4.
The Muzx Ultra in-ear headphones have balanced armatures and deliver a frequency response range of 20Hz to 20kHz, while offering 26dB of passive noise isolation. They get an in-line remote for controlling iPhone and iPod functions with a built-in microphone for making calls.
The 46-inch cable otherwise sports a strain relief component near each driver and another at the 3.5mm gold-plated audio jack. Altec Lansing includes four pairs of fit tips and a carrying case.
Both the Octiv Duo and Muzx Ultra ship in October, with each priced at $100.
