Supports new formats, faster decoding

As promised, Applidium has released a new version of VLC Media Player at the App Store. The app is now universal, supporting iOS devices beyond the iPad. Only the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and "recent" iPod touches are actually compatible, however.

Several other upgrades have also been made. Videos can now be deleted on a handheld without having to go through iTunes File Sharing, and a broader range of file extensions is being supported. Decoding is described as "much faster" as a result of some assembly optimizations. The app is a free download.
