Console-level gaming on iPhone, iPod touch

Epic Games has unveiled its upcoming game for iOS devices, Infinity Blade. The game delivers console-level graphics that were featured in the proof-of-concept demo Epic Citadel, which show-cased its Unreal 3 engine ported to work on the iOS platform. A video trailer (included below) will whet the appetite of iOS gamers.

The game, first introduced as “Project Sword” in September, is an example of the Action-RPG genre built from the ground up to be optimized for the iOS touch interface. Set in a fully 3D castle, the game’s single-player mode puts gamers in sword battles and boss fights. As play progresses, players gain experience, build stats and earn more powerful weapons.

Additional content, including a multi-player mode will be released free of charge in planned updates. It is due to arrive this Holiday season.
