Emphasis still litmited to high-end advertisers

Confirming recent media claims, Apple has announced plans for a European iAd expansion. The network will officially expand to the UK and France and December, with Germany following in January. As in the US, the initial roster of advertisers consists of high-profile corporations. The list so far includes: L’Oréal, Renault, Louis Vuitton, Nespresso, Perrier, Unilever, Citi, Evian, LG Display, AB InBev, Turkish Airlines and Absolute Radio.

Apple says that in the US, it has signed on "over half" of the top 25 national advertisers in a space of four months. In practice, however, iAd has had a relatively rocky start. People in the advertising industry have complained about cost and unusually long ad development times, owing to direct Apple involvement. Two major advertisers, Adidas and Chanel, have pulled out of iAd entirely.
