Jambox BT speaker now in stores

The Jambox Bluetooth speaker announced at the start of the month is now shipping. Aliph's first Bluetooth speaker, as opposed to a Jawbone headset, it has similar app support as the headsets and is one of the very few wireless speakers that can be upgraded with new firmware. The device uses a two small dome speakers that work in conjunction with a moving-wall passive bass radiator and airtight enclosure for more range than most portable speakers manage.

Aliph says the speaker will get as loud as 85 decibels, while its lithium ion battery is rated at up to eight hours of use. A microUSB port supplies the charging and a way of loading apps. An integrated microphone will let it be used as a hands-free speakerphone as well. While the Jambox is meant for use with Apple notebooks, iPads, iPhones and iPods, it can also connect to other devices or through a 3.5mm stereo jack connection.

Jamboxes are now available at Apple and Best Buy stores in black, blue, red and silver for $200.
