Apple Australia starts Black Friday deals
Apple's Australian store and matching New Zealand shop has started its Black Friday sale and has indicated what's likely to be on sale when the US and other countries turn the clock. The company is notably including the new MacBook Air among the discounts and is trimming $121 AUD ($119 US) off the prices of both 13-inch models. iPads have also gone on sale by $51 AUD for every model, hinting that Apple will sell the iPad at $50 off in the US.
The computer builder is also offering discounts identical to the Air for every iMac and MacBook Pro model. Apple's two most popular iPods, the iPod touch and the iPod nano, are also discounted. The full-size iPods are discounted at anywhere from $25 AUD to $51 AUD for the 8GB to 64GB versions, while the iPod nanos save either $15 AUD for an 8GB player or $25 AUD for 16GB.
A handful of accessories are on sale, most of which are from Apple itself. These range from as little as $4 AUD for an official iPad case to $11 AUD off of a Magic Trackpad and $65 AUD off of a 2TB Time Capsule.
Among third parties, the discounts are highlighted by an $82 AUD cut to the Logitech S715i, $32 AUD off of Incase's Convertible Book Jacket case for the iPad, $15 AUD off of TomTom's Car Kit for the iPhone 4 and $25 AUD off of Microsoft Office 2011.
The iPad discounts may be Apple's most significant, as they suggest the company is eager to have a strong first holiday for its inaugural tablet and may be hoping to head off discounts for the rivaling Galaxy Tab, which is already part of a T-Mobile BOGO deal and may see more discounts on Friday.
