Apple likely reaping many benefits
Three types of electronics were the primary sellers during the Thanksgiving weekend, says the Consumer Electronics Association. While declining to provide exact figures, the industry organization cites "portable MP3 players" as the bestselling category in survey results, followed by game consoles and accessories. In third was computers, a category which includes tablets alongside desktops and notebooks.
Apple is likely to have been one of the biggest single beneficiaries of Thanksgiving trends. The company's iPods continue to dominate the MP3 player market by a large margin, and most of the digital music sold in the US comes from the iTunes Store. The iPad's control of the tablet market, meanwhile, is near absolute, and MacBooks are one of the most popular notebook brands.

So goes the theory that Apple should just
stop building iPods because there's no longer a need for them. So, yearly sales are declining but maybe at some point they'll stabilize and Apple will still have decent mp3 player market share.
