Sanwa brings iPhone 4, iPad HDMI adapter to Japan

Japan's Sanwa this week revealed an HDMI adapter that will let iPhone 4 and iPad users output 720p videos to external displays. Photos and presentations can also be sent, the latter over Keynote, while any GoodReader file is compatible as well. The adapter isn't compatible with earlier devices and wouldn't have much effect, as they're limited to standard definition.

The adapter should be out soon, priced at the equivalent of $73 in Japan. No indication has been given as to if or when the device will arrive in North America. [via Akihabara]

    I want one

I'd like to be able watch my shows and movies in 720p in my hotel room when I'm on a business trip.

    Get an AppleTV!

For only a few dollars more, you can get an AppleTV and stream your movies wirelessly.

For presentations this might make sense, as you can't airplay Keynote, but for movies, it doesn't make sense at all.

Why? So you can have an even larger device you have to carry around, with more cables, and more restrictions on what you can show on the device?
