Earbud-style get high marks internationally

Swedish headphones company Jays has announced that its headphones will soon be available in the US, leading off with its latest creation, the a-Jays Four for iPhones and other smartphones. The in-ear earphone boasts a "fully" compatible keypad, high-quality microphone and tangle-free flat cord.

Among the main features of the a-Jays Four headphones is its ability to interact fully with the iPhone, including calls as well as pausing and skipping tracks. The headphone connector is in a L-shaped configuration to let it lay flatter on the top of the iPhone's surface, and comes with five different sizes of earbud to help ensure the best fit.

The headphones are rated with a frequency response of 20-21,000 Hz, an impedence of 16 Ohm at 1kHz and a sensitivity of 96dB at 1kHz. The a-Jays Four should launch at retailers this month and are expected to list for $70.

    Better than Apple's?

I hope these are better than Apple's $75 POS'.

One thing on these that has me worried about these is that there is a sharp drop-off between the wire and the various parts that the wire goes into. My iPhone headphones get wrapped and thrown in my backpack and generally are abused without any cracking or problems with the wires. I hope these wires can stand up to the abuse without tearing or fraying at those interfaces where the wire will bend a lot against.

I like the 3 button design. Definitely better than wondering if you've pressed one of the + or - buttons when instead you wanted to press center button on the Apple versions. Although I can see dust getting in there.
