Features Fender amps, stompboxes
IK Multimedia has announced AmpliTube Fender for the iPhone and iPad. The new apps each simulate five Fender amps, including the '65 Deluxe Reverb, the SuperSonic, the '65 Twin Reverb, the '59 Bassman and the Pro Junior. They also include six Fender stompboxes: Tape Delay, Compressor, Fender Blender, Phaser, Overdrive and Noise Filter.
Signal chains permit up to three simultaneous stompbox effects on an iPhone or iPod touch, and up to four effects on an iPad. Tone elements are individually selectable and the controls are fully functional. The apps also incorporate speed trainers, which can run a song faster or slower independently of pitch.
Other features include single-track recording with re-amping, and the option of a four-track recorder with a master effects section, available via in-app purchase. The iPad version of the add-on expands recording to eight tracks. There are two mic models (condenser and dynamic), a tuner/metronome, and 36 presets.
The iPhone app requires at least iOS 3.1.3 and an iPhone 3G or second-generation iPod touch. The iPad app requires iOS 3.2 or better. Both titles should soon be free downloads from the App Store, the bulk of IK's income coming from in-app purchases or a $15 complete bundle.
