iOS 4.3 shows new texting options, new look to app updates

Number of alerts now customizable

Two more minor changes have been uncovered in the iOS 4.3 beta. AppleInsider notes that under the "Message" section of the Settings app, users can now change how often an alert tone is played for texts. Alerts can be set to occur once, twice, three times, five times or even 10 times. This compares to iOS 4.2.1, in which people can only set "Repeat Alert" to trigger two extra alerts for new messages.

Apple has meanwhile changed the look of the Updates tab in the mobile App Store. In v4.2.1, updates are normally displayed with text and an icon against the App Store's standard gray background. The v4.3 beta instead uses a white background, with a rounded rectangular border around app entries. The change could potentially signify plans for more adjustments to the look of the App Store or iOS itself.
