Enhances audio with three-dimensional sound stage

SRS Labs has introduced it next-gen audio enhancement adapter for Apple’s iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. It comes in two versions, the iWow 3D and the iWow 3D Combo, which adds a pair of earphones. As can be seen in the photos, the adapter attaches to an iDevice using a 30-pin adapter and includes a line-out cable with 3.5mm jack where users attach their headphones. According to SRS Labs, the addition of the device will restore audio frequencies that have been lost in the digital music compression process.

In the case of the iWow 3D, it also adds an immersive three-dimensional sound stage that offers additional depth and clarity. It can also work in conjunction with the free iWow iOS app available for download from the iTunes App Store. The app gives users the option to choose headphones, speakers or a car stereo. Dig into the settings and users are given the option to choose from combinations of Wide Surround, Deep Bass, and High Treble.

Users who do not have an iOS iPod can still benefit from adding the dongle but will not have the ability adjust the sound stage that is provided by the companion app.

The SRS iWow 3D and SRS iWow 3D combo are listed as coming soon and will retail for $50 and $70 respectively.

    cool!

i have the iWOW plug-in for iTunes and while i turn it off for classical, i really like what it does for my electronic music. don't know if the technology truly replaces "missing" audio frequencies but it sure puts that extra bump in the thump.

I believe it just does automatic equalizer settings to your music based on genre or possibly analysis of the music.
