'Corporate meeting' flagged at Moscone West
Apple has likely already secured dates for this year's Worldwide Developers Conference, a report notes. The company typically holds WWDC at the Moscone Center in downtown San Francisco, and normally towards the beginning of June. An anonymous "corporate meeting" has been scheduled at Moscone West from June 5th through the 9th, says Setteb.it.
WWDC 2010 ran from June 7th through to the 11th. While that event was concentrated almost entirely on iOS, the 2011 program is likely to return to a Mac focus as Apple moves to support Mac OS X Lion. Apple is likely to begin by announcing a fifth-generation iPhone, however, which if historical trends hold true should ship towards the end of June.
Apple's plans for the iPhone 5 remain nebulous. The device may however have support for near-field communications (NFC) technologies such as mobile payments. Given industry competition, it could also switch to a dual-core processor, as anticipated with the second-generation iPad.
