Fireplace filters through Facebook feeds

The iPhone version of Skyfire been updated to version 3.0. The app takes web-based Flash video and, through the developer's servers, converts it into an HTML5 format playable by iOS devices. The v3.0 update grants access to more Flash video, though it still lacks 100 percent compatibility.

The app now also tracks content popular amongst friends and throughout Facebook. Other Facebook integrations include the Fireplace Feed Reader, which filters a user's feeds for links, and a Like button on every webpage. Portal integration provides quicker access to the service. Separately, the new SkyfireOneTouch Search makes it possible to scan Google, VideoSurf or Wikipedia without having to navigate to each site.

Skyfire requires iOS 3.0, and technically works on the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, although a separate iPad app is available. The iPhone software costs $3.
