Mozy iOS app links into online backups

Media support primarily limited to photos

Online backup service Mozy has launched its first native iOS app. The title lets users browse backups by folder, or else search for a specific file. Access requires a Mozy account, the base of which is a free 2GB option. 50GB is $6 a month, and 125GB is $10 a month; the company also offers business-level services.

In most cases sharing files involves emailing them. In-app media support is mostly limited to photos, which can be viewed as thumbnails, published to Facebook, or downloaded in full resolution to an iOS device. Documents such as PDF files can also be viewed in-app, or else opened in outside software.

The Mozy app is a free download requiring iOS 4.0 or better. Some other limitations exist, the most obvious of which may be the lack of a native iPad interface. Users also remark that the app is unable to open accounts encrypted with a private key.
