iTunes 10.3 goes live for Mac, Windows

Some downloads still problematic

Apple has finally released iTunes 10.3, which was initially intended to go live yesterday. As expected the software mainly introduces support for iTunes in the Cloud, which automatically pushes purchased apps, books and music to all devices signed in with a given Apple ID. If a device doesn't have the content synced automatically, an option to download purchases is available, assuming necessary material is still hosted at the iTunes Store.

Another change is the ability to browse books on the iTunes Store. While users can't read any of the titles on a computer, purchased books become accessible on any iOS device with iBooks. The scheme is similar in concept to Kindle purchases from Amazon.com.

Windows users may still be experiencing some trouble downloading iTunes 10.3, particularly the 64-bit version. Its v10.2.2 release still fails to detect newer software, and using the regular web download link will grab the 32-bit update instead. Apple's support page lists the 64-bit download, but the installer may not remove v10.2.2 properly.
