Apple pushing hard on 'PC Free' concept?

Hooks have been discovered in the iOS 5 beta for several undisclosed features. Code references for the Camera app, for instance, point to native panorama support, something currently offered only by third-party apps. The option is not yet live, but could be toggled on in a later version of the beta.

A change that is already in effect is support for syncing and playing 1080p video. Apple has traditionally limited iOS media to 720p, likely because even the display on the iPad is technically sub-HD, and video sold on the iTunes Store doesn't go above the resolution. Before the iOS 5 beta, iTunes would not even transfer 1080p files to a device.

A third feature is the ability to configure an AirPort or Time Capsule base station directly from iOS. The option is found under the Wi-Fi Networks submenu under Settings. The addition appears to be an extension of Apple's 'PC Free' concept, allowing a person to setup a wireless router without the usual Mac or Windows interface. Only first-party routers are supported.

... is why I sold my iPad and bought a MacBook air. As a network admin, I MUST be able to configure AirPorts.
