V-Moda outs True-Blood edition V-80 headphones

Clothing and headphone maker V-Moda on Thursday introduced the V-80 on-ear headphones, the first and only product in the company's True Blood lineup. The line was developed in conjunction with HBO, which airs the popular TV show. The headphones sport interchangeable metal shields themed after the show that cover the earpods.

The metal shields include an etching of the Fangtasia night club name from the show, Japanese symbols featured on the Tru Blood beverage from the show and a personalized plaque with a user's blood type. The headphones are also built to MIL-STD-810G standards for ruggedness.

Materials used for the V-80's construction include steel, aircraft-grade aluminum, Kevlar, microfiber suede, 24 karat gold, textiles and an exoskeleton hard case.

The headphones otherwise get 40mm dual-diaphragm drivers with a 5Hz to 30kHz frequency range. The Kevlar-reinforced detachable cable has a 24k gold-plated 3.5mm plug and an in-line, one-button remote control. A carrying case with blood vial zipper is included as well. Finally, V-Moda offers a 50 percent lifetime discount for second units to replace sets damaged by consumers.

The V-Moda V-80 headphones are now available from a number of stores, including Amazon, priced at $230.
