'No guarantee' new model will have tech
Apple may be ready to launch a 3G-equipped iPod touch as soon as this month, a source claims. The company has allegedly worked out contract-free plans with its carrier partners that are similar to those for the iPad. A speculated reason for the push is iCloud, since Apple might want to ensure the device keeps up with other iOS hardware. Because the current Touch is restricted to Wi-Fi, it can only sync with iCloud in a limited number of places, meaning that a person might as well sync with their Mac or Windows PC in many instances.
The fifth-generation Touch will reportedly look "very similar" to the existing one, and remain distinct from the iPhone by lacking support for cellular voice. The source in fact warns that there is "no guarantee" the 3G support will be included, although it "should make it." Rumors of a 3G-ready Touch have circulated for some time.
Whenever it arrives, a new Touch will probably share other differences with the iPhone. Within present-gen hardware the iPhone also has the advantage of GPS, an IPS display, better cameras and more RAM. This makes the hardware more expensive though, something normally offset by carrier subsidies.

That is it
For me, and a number of kids, teens, and young adults...this is all I need. It is a GREAT gateway drug...errr. gateway device for future iPhone users.
