New processor unmentioned, 3G dubious

The fifth-generation iPod touch will see "very minor" changes over its predecessor when it's announced in the next few weeks, MacRumors claims to have learned. The biggest change will allegedly be the addition of a white option, something well supported by various part leaks. Other modifications should include an oleophobic screen coating, and an improved ambient light sensor.

There is no mention of a faster processor, although that may be taken for granted, since Apple has always upgraded speed with each new Touch. More significantly though there is said to be no sign of rumored 3G models, which would bring the Touch into line with Apple's other iOS handhelds. iCloud and many iPhone apps become relatively crippled without remote Internet access, something Apple may eventually want to fix with the Touch. At the same time, 3G- or 4G-ready iPods would reduce the incentive to buy an iPhone.

    No upgrades for me

Well, if that is the case this will be the 3rd year without an iPod Touch upgrade.
