Next-gen iPhone spotted in Apple inventory systems

Suggests Apple may not use iPhone 5 name
A next-generation iPhone has made its way into Apple inventory systems, according to a source for 9to5Mac. The device is said to be the N94 model long associated with Apple's near-term iPhone plans. Specifications are typically expected to include an A5 processor, and possibly 1GB of RAM, a dual-mode GSM/CDMA chipset, and an 8 megapixel rear camera.
Of special interest is that a model number in the inventory system, MD239, matches a supposed iPhone 4S label recently posted in a Chinese forum. If both pieces of information are accurate it would mean that the N94 and 4S are one and the same, leaving the existence of an "iPhone 5" in doubt. Another new model number, the MD234, is speculated to be a 32GB version of the 4S; the label for the MD239 mentions 16GB.
The label also contains the text "IMEI/MEID," which may back claims of the hybrid GSM/CDMA receiver. 9to5's source adds that two new iPhone 4 models spotted yesterday may indeed be black and white versions of an 8GB iPhone 4. As for the iPod touch, it's believed that all three capacities should see price drops in some international markets. The biggest cuts though should hit the 8GB player, which in the US could bring pricing as low as $199. The move may be particularly important given the existence of Amazon's 8GB Kindle Fire, which has the advantage of a 7-inch screen for the same pricetag.

How can you compare the iPhone to a Kindle? Maybe compare it to a Touch. The Kindle is 7.5" x 4.7" x 0.45" and weighs 14.6 ounces. The iPhone 4 is 4.5" x 2.31" x 0.37" and weighs 4.8 ounces. Try carrying the Kindle in your back pocket, it isn't going to stay there for long. Saying the Kindle is better for the price because it has a larger screen is crazy. You still need a phone with the Kindle so you're carrying two devices instead of one.
