Browser newly iOS 5-compatible

Skyfire Labs has released iPhone and iPad versions of Skyfire 4.0, an update to its signature web browser. The software copes with a fundamental limitation of iOS by playing converted Flash video from a selection of over 200,000 websites. While the v4.0 update makes the browser compatible with iOS 5, the primary addition is actually a video recommendation system.

After tapping on the Video button, users are first presented with any clips from the site they're already on, but can then also check out a generated list based on the activity of other Skyfire users. Recommendations are in fact available on pages without any video, since lists are based on sites rather than specific clips.

Minor improvements to the browser include faster video loading, better stability and a longer list of compatible sites. The iPhone version of the app is $3, while the iPad edition is $5.
