Organizers add focus to iOS side of event

Organizers have opened up registrations for Macworld|iWorld, a rebranded Macworld Expo. The event is scheduled for January 26th through the 28th at the Moscone West center in San Francisco. The name change is meant to emphasize the iOS side of the gathering. iWorld will also include new Music Experience and Film Event tracks, featuring media and performances created with Apple products, as well talks with some of the people involved. One Film Event session, for instance, will bridge a screening of the unaired South Park pilot with a Q&A hosted by staff from the show.

There are currently over 75 educational Tech Talks scheduled, and a new session called RapidFire will feature two hours of presentations lasting just five minutes each. OS X will allegedly remain a major focus, and to that end, Mac developers are being offered a new package to encourage showing off software at the expo without the cost of a large booth.

Some returning events will include the Mobile Apps Showcase, and art exhibits, the latter in the form of an extended Art Showings component. Packages and prices include a new iFan Pass, which will let people see the Tech Talks, the exhibit floor, and the music, film, and art events. A cheaper Exhibits Pass will limit people to the floor, the Macworld Live stage, and the Macworld|iWorld midway, which will incorporate music demos, wireless headphone displays and digital classrooms.

More conventional Pre-Conference Workshops, MacIT and All-Access Passes are being sold as well, costing minimums of $275, $695, and $750, respectively. The Exhibits and iFan Passes start at $25 and $75. All options will increase in price after December 5th however, the highest charges applying to people buying passes at the event itself.
