iOS 5.0.1 reaches public

Apple as promised has posted the finished version of iOS 5.0.1. The release is intended primarily to fix battery problems reported by some device owners, more frequently iPhone 4S users. Also new is support for four-finger multitasking gestures on the original iPad.

Other fixes include handling of Documents in the Cloud and the voice dictation system's ability to recognize Australian accents.

The update is currently available for most if not all users only through an iTunes sync. Users checking over-the-air haven't yet seen the update become available.

Does anyone know if it updates the baseband? Unlockers need to know.

    four-finger multitasking gestures

They were only available initially for iPad 2 or, for iPad 1 owners, through a hack.

    Over the Air Update Available

I just started the OTA update (Verizon iPhone 4). It downloaded in about 4 minutes over wi-fi. Once its downloaded you have to back into settings to install it. Installation took about 5 minutes and involved 2 (automatic) reboots with progress bars. Phone appears to be working normally now.

    Sprint Changes

Noticed that my Sprint speeds seem to be faster by about 2x. Still not blindingly speedy, but improving.

They're just a bunch of useless gestures to add to the reportoire so people can think it's even cooler. "Hey, look, if I stick four fingers on here and swipe this way, this happens!". Wow. Most people don't even know they're there, and the others probably forget.
