Also implements simpler interface, card notes

LinkedIn says its it has relaunched CardMunch, one of its two iPhone apps. CardMunch is used to scan business cards and turn them into digital contact information. The overhauled app now automatically links a person's information with a LinkedIn profile where possible. This provides access to extended data, such as connections, education, and work experience.

The app also uses a new, three-screen interface, split between card capture, a contact list, and details/LinkedIn info. Actually scanning a card should be easier and faster, and if needed manual transcription is supported. Notes can be added to cards to supply further information.

Some users are complaining however that the app has lost some features, such as automatic sync with iOS' own Contacts app, or the ability to customize an email template. The app is a free download; users must have an iPhone 3GS, 4 or 4S, a fourth-generation iPod touch, or an iPad 2.
