Supports printers without native AirPrint

Lantronix has announced the xPrintServer Network Edition, a new add-on peripheral. The device allows iPhones, iPads, and iPods to send files to printers lacking native AirPrint support. Once connected to a network the xPrintServer should discover local printers automatically, and accept input from iOS devices without any extra configuration.

Initial printer support is said to include "thousands" of models, under brands such as Brother, Canon, Dell, Epson, HP, Lexmark, and Xerox. The xPrintServer Network Edition is currently up for pre-order at a cost of $150, and will ship sometime in the first quarter of next year. iOS devices must be running iOS 4.2 or later, and date no further back than the iPhone 3GS.
