Apple refunds premature iTunes Match subscriptions

US, Brazil still only regions with option

Apple is refunding a number of iTunes Match subscriptions, according to posts on the company's support forums and elsewhere. On Wednesday Match appeared to become available in a number of new regions, such as Canada, the UK, New Zealand and Australia. The additional options have since vanished however, and Apple is said to be contacting accidental subscribers to assure them a refund is coming.

For the time being, the only official regions to support iTunes Match are the US and Brazil. The major issue is the record labels, which are likely finalizing regional rights deals with Apple, or just waiting for an agreed-upon date. iTunes Match mirrors a person's entire music library, including tracks not hosted on the iTunes Store, for which Apple already has some rights.

    Figures...

Oh well, I'll get my money back at least... What a major error though.

    T&C Update

I was just asked to approve updated Ts and Cs for iTunes on my UK account just now. It said that the major change was related to the addition of iTunes Match so it must be coming out soon.
