Connects to Bluetooth-ready monitors

A new iPhone app, CardioMapper, has joined the ranks of iOS apps taking early advantage of the iPhone 4S' Bluetooth 4.0 support. The app is intended to track calorie burn during workouts, and on a basic level needs only an iOS handheld with GPS tracking. On the 4S, though, it can connect to Bluetooth-capable heartrate monitors like the SmartHRM and Bluetooth Smart 4.0 (BLE). As a person works out, the app will display live pulse data from a connected monitor.

The title also sports features like interval coaching, iPod music playback, and post-exercise analysis. Aside from calories, heartrate and pulse, it also tracks the duration, speed, pace, and distance involved in any workout. body-PRO is selling CardioMapper for $2. While the iPhone 4S is the software's ideal platform, the app supports any device running iOS 4.2 or later.
