SNES classic Mega Man X updated for iOS

Capcom has announced that its classic Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) title Mega Man X ($5, iTunes) is now available on the iOS platform. The game features updated graphics designed to take advantage of Apple’s Retina Display. It also comes with special iOS-only “cheat” moves that include auto-fire, auto-charge, and auto-ladder latch-on.

The virtual control pad is customizable, while users can also take advantage of a new “Easy Mode” for newbies that adds platforms to many of the “bottomless pits.” The game also includes Game Center support for Leaderboards and Achievements. Capcom has also incorporated 80 additional challenges for veterans of the title to make a repurchase of the game more attractive.

Capcom has also included the option to use in-app purchases to purchase upgrades that can be earnt during the game to make progress that much more easy if users choose. A “Complete Set” option will set users back another $4 after the initial purchase.

Mega Man X will run on iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S with iOS 4.3 onwards and the iPod touch 3G onwards. The original iPod touch is not supported and the game has yet to be validated on the iPad or iPad 2.

    Nice

Nice to see this game come out for iOS, hopefully 2 and 3 come out soon as well. Though I have to wonder how the dash jump is going to work in iOS. This game was hard enough to control with an actual D pad and buttons.
