GamePad take on handheld controller form-factor

60beat has introduced a gaming controller for iOS devices. Designed to resemble a traditional handheld gaming controller, the 60beat GamePad offers dual analog joysticks, a directional pad, 10 action buttons, and three menu buttons. It connects to an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using the device's 3.5mm headphone jack.

The controller is powered by the iOS device and requires no batteries. Currently, it's compatible with Bugdom 2 and Aftermath. Support for more games will be added in February.

Priced at $50, the 60beat GamePad comes packaged with an audio splitter and a four-foot cable for connecting the controller. [via UberGizmo]

    Great product

but I sure wish Apple would add APIs for developers to use. The iPad is so great for gaming, and would approach perfect if people could make things like this and the iCade and, uh, have everything just work.
